There are approximately 25 million veterans in the United States. After courageously serving their country, nearly six percent of them live in poverty, face homelessness, and are in desperate need of help. Approximately six million are disabled, many are struggling financially, and a high number need treatment for depression, PTSD, and other psychological issues.
Veterans' Hope is a vital liaison between service men and women and the organizations created to meet their needs. We will function as the facilitator of community events and summits, working with state and federal organizations, and connecting the military with the American people while increasing awareness and support for the veterans' needs. Veterans' Hope will also provide carefully designed innovative and effective programs for addressing a few of the most challenging issues of our veterans: PTSD and Unemployment
Through the deployment of several motor coaches (known as Mobile Information Command Centers - MICCs), each equipped with a comprehensive data-base system, Veterans' Hope will harness the efforts of thousands of charitable organizations, veteran-owned businesses, government contracting companies and other networking resources from across the country. We will work with the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs and each branch of the military, as well as the United States Chamber of Commerce and civic organizations, to make a positive change in the lives of those service men and women and their families who need support in a wide variety of ways.
Our vision is to have at least one MICC in every region, assuring our veterans that they are still, and always will be, a valuable asset to this country and that the American people appreciate their sacrifices. Veterans' Hope will work to be the leader in veteran support and the largest grass-roots mobile outreach program in the country.
Programs and Services:
As the Mobile Command Centers travel the nation, meeting with veterans individually, Veterans' Hope will also present town hall meetings entitled:
HONOR
"We fought for you...Now fight for Us"
A Town Hall for Veterans and their Communities.
The town hall meetings and programs of Veterans' Hope will address the following:
* Wounded Warrior Issues
* Homeless Veterans
* Suicide Awareness
* Deployment Issues
* Reintegration into society
* Employment issues
In addition to circling the country and conducting on-site support events and meetings, Veterans' Hope is providing carefully designed programs which meet some of the most challenging needs of the veterans. .
Through the MICC and outreach activities, Veterans' Hope will provide materials and training for communities to offer The Triumph Program for Overcoming PTSD which is a carefully designed process to assist veterans to put their past horrors on paper, work through the anger, survivors guilt and fear that PTSD brings. In this process one of the most prevalent disabilities from war is effectively addressed and shared in a virtual library, raising awareness and appreciation of our veterans while inspiring and assisting those still struggling through their own battle with PTSD. The MICC will offer the Triumph Program for the Families of Heroes, where the challenges and stories of our military families dealing with deployment, injury, PTSD or death of a Hero can be worked through and shared.
Another program Veterans' Hope will provide is H.O.N.O.R Mentoring (Helping Our Neighbors Overcome and Rebuild), which will connect military veterans and at-risk youth. Through The antisocial behaviors of at-risk youth and the formerly incarcerated are often driven by low self-esteem and lack of respect for others. Frequently there is a void of real heroes and positive role models in the life of those struggling to find the path leading to a successful and proactive destiny. Through H.O.N.O.R. Mentoring, our country's greatest heroes use their well-earned respect and intimate knowledge of what it takes to be strong in both body and mind to lead and guide those who are struggling to find their way towards honor, loyalty and respect for their country and others. Veterans are the perfect role models for the at-risk and formerly incarcerated. They are tough, strong and love this country and its citizens as only someone who has sacrificed for it can. In this way, the veterans themselves receive valuable service through those they mentor and a strong bond of love and appreciation can form between the veteran and his/her protege which further increases the effectiveness of the H.O.N.O.R. Mentoring program.
Our Commitment:
Veterans' Hope, with its corporate and charity partners, will improve the lives of servicemen and women and their families all across the country. Additionally, we will enhance the visibility of the military services, while at the same time provide a venue that all service members from every generation can rally around.
Through a cooperative effort, Veterans' Hope will foster a spirit and camaraderie that will serve to improve morale and strengthen the bond between the active, retired and military veteran communities. Veterans' Hope will work to preserve the traditions of the military services, and continually educate the American people about our Armed Forces.
According to the Department of Defense, there is a serious disconnect between the American people and her military. Through our grassroots marketing objectives and programs, Veterans' Hope will focus efforts that lead towards reconnecting the American people with its military. Veterans' Hope will also become a delivery system for a wide variety of veteran support non-profits, serving to bridge the gap between the organizations and the veterans themselves, so that their services can reach those who need them directly. Veterans' Hope will develop an expansive database of these non-profits who will all be screened for legitimacy. Comments on the Military and Business Ownership...Serving in the military, and now serving as a civilian within DoD, I have learned to focus my energy, and really identify the needs that lay within our service members and their families. In order to be a successful business owner, you have to first believe in yourself and trust your own judgment, and those are traits that are learned through leading.
